  • One thing you found easy:
  • One thing you found difficult:
  • (Optional): a video of you performing it!

Sample daily update:

  • Piece you worked on: Ravel's Prelude
  • One thing you found easy: Learning the notes, and rhythms were rather straight-forward, and not challenging!
  • One thing you found difficult: Shifting the Hands was a bit tricky to get smooth!

Feel free to make these updates as short or long as you wish!

  • Piece you worked on: Faure鈥檚 Romance Sans Paroles Op 17 No 3. Made it to the end of the piece this week (with a few blips of course).

One thing you found easy: Memorizing the piece. A lot of patterns (especially in the left hand). Also has very clear sections so it鈥檚 easier to learn in small parts.
One thing you found difficult: Maintaining the tempo, especially in parts where it got louder.

Next week hope to get more secure with the notes and incorporate better dynamics.

Finally got to record and upload my week 2 practice video. I haven't been able to practice piano as much as I'd like to as things have gotten really busy with work work and house work. But I love this month's theme and wanted to learn something new for this month's challenge.

    • Piece you worked on:  Debussy's Reverie (1890)
    • One thing you found easy: I've gotten a better flow on most of the piece now.  I especially enjoy playing the high G octave triplets (with the F and E held down) in measures 69-70.  It took me some focused practice, but once I got it, it became one of my favorite parts.
    • One thing you found difficult: Still working on measures 19-26 as I still take some time to search for the notes to play.  Also, need to learn to play measures 76-81 more smoothly.  These measures are marked with the LH crossing over, but I find it easier to play without the cross-over.  Just needs to be ironed out a bit.

My week 3 Clair de lune practice upload. I learned this piece about 20 years ago, but since then, I had never played it until I  found the tonebase lesson by Jean Efflam Bavouzet. I decided to practice it again. I watched the lesson video repeatedly. It's wonderful, and I have learned a lot from his lesson. The more I practice, the more difficulty comes up, but I'm enjoying the music.
