Week 1: Choose your waltz and start Dancing!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Week 1 of celebrating Schubert's Waltzes!

Below are some collections of waltzes  that are quite delightful. Take a look and decide which waltz(es) you want to work on during this challenge! Keep in mind that they can be quite short, so it can be fun to pick several!

Let us know which waltzes you pick in the comments below!

Week 1 Goal:

Choose a waltz or several to work on! Let us know why you selected the particular waltz!

Additional challenge:

Post your sightreading/first play through video!

Popular waltzes to choose from:

34 Valses Sentimentales D.779

12 Valses Nobles D.969

Waltz in G (albumblatt)

12 Grazer Walzer D.924

I actually read through a few prhers with every intention of finishing one - but my studio is having their recitals on Saturday. Also growing an instagram - never thought I’d ever do that!

Hopefully I can record onr before the two-week intensive is up! Just been focused on my students. They all sound great! Keep it up!

Gail Starr Every year! :-) Don't want to invade the thread, but here's a teaser from a recent practice... (Amy Beach duet - Katy-dids)   https://www.instagram.com/reel/C798mbMSwCB/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

  • I have enjoyed watching everybody's videos.  I look forward to the day that I can sight read like you all!  I am focusing right now on trying to keep a solid tempo, even through mistakes.  I know the piece cold, but when I turn on the camera I get all fidgety.  Needs a word for that. Pifuffled is the pretend word that comes to mind.

I feel good about my progress from Day #1 to Day #11

Josh Miller Pituffled should be our new adjective for ALL our videos.  Love it!  (Actually, I get a bit pituffled on the highway in bad traffic, also!)
