How to stick to a demanding routine when preparing for bigger repertoire...

Hi all, I'm a pianist from UK preparing Prokofiev's 2nd Piano Concerto in G minor. To do this I've designed a routine to work on...

- finger strength/fitness

- mental endurance

- understanding of Prokofiev's musical language/other research

As I work from home, I'm finding it more and more difficult to work in isolation for such a long time. So my idea is this, to meet up with musicians in a similar situation online regularly for scheduled practice sessions (unmuted only at the start/end of course). Has anyone else tried this/had any success?

Though not professional, I think I have seen some amateur pianists air their regular practice on Clubhouse, and attracted some audience.

I think that is a good idea, we can ask Tonebase about whether we can gather personal contact for those who interested, or whether they are interested in organizing such a group.

  • I don't know whether your focus is accountability or network. But there is Ray Chen's Tonic app which I occasionally practise to.
