Welcome to the tonebase Piano Community!
Hey everyone - this is Dominic from tonebase 🙂!
As the lead of tonebase PIANO it's such a pleasure to welcome you to the tonebase community. We would love to get to know you! Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I'll go first:
- I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and you better believe that I love my barbecue! It is hard to pick my favorite food between ribs, brisket, or a beautiful grilled steak, but if I have to decide...nothing beats a juicy, fall-off-the-bone rack of baby back ribs!
- Currently working on some old favorites of mine by Carl Vine (Piano Sonata No.1), Beethoven (Piano Concerto No.4) and Scriabin (Fantasy op.28) but also adding some great repertoire by H. Leslie Adams (Etude in A-flat minor Book 2), Laura Kaminsky (Alluvion), and Clara Schumann (Romanze in A minor Op.21 no.1)!
- I am hoping to getting to know and helping all of you achieve your musical and artistic goals. Let's have some fun and get to work!
Now over to you (after some participation from our tonebase team members!)

Hi my name is miranda and I am from Tuscaloosa Alabama. My favorite food would have to be desserts ( not necessarily specific to my area ). But I’d rather eat dessert instead of a meal.
i am currently working on polishing up Claire de Lune and then hoping to start on The Sunken Cathedral 💝
I am hoping to gain more insight into playing more advanced pieces correctly and making practice more regular (😅 not easy with 2 small kids , church music , and a studio ).
looking forward to growing in musicianship skills with everyone. -
Gail Starr Some of my teaching was in schools so I taught some of the beginners in groups of three but it must have been around forty hours. It was every day pretty much because some people wanted the weekends and travelled a lot. It has to be said that all of the fluteplayers in the County Youth Orchestra were my pupils bar one, who did come for a few lessons but felt disloyal to his main teacher.

Hi everyone,
- I'm currently living on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. The region has a lot of fresh seafood and vineyards to choose from. My corner of the Bellarine is Point Lonsdale.
- I'm working on a range of pieces but I'm most excited by Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu and a few of the Nocturnes. I'm also chipping into Beethoven's Pathetique. I learned the piano for a short time as a child and then did so again for a couple of years off and on during my late 30s. I bought a piano again at the beginning of COVID and have thrown myself seriously into it ever since. I was serious about classical guitar for most of my adult life by the piano is my first love.
- Tonebase provides a wonderful set of connections to learning and also to a sense of community. I'm ripping through the videos but know that I'll return many times to view some of these. I'm loving the subscription.

Hey everyone!
With all the videos and posts of the Community Challenge I didn't write one to the Welcome Forum.
I am Juan Carlos (first name) Olite. I teach Philosophy in High School and live in Zaragoza (Spain). My favorite food, of course: ¡Paella!
Currently, I'am working in two transcriptions of Bach music: Bach-Rachmaninov Gavotte (from the original violin piece) and Bach-Stradal Andante of the Organ Sonata nº 4. Other pieces of Bach (Preludes, dances of the French Suites...) and Chopin (Etude op. 10 nº 3).
I am very happy to have found Tonebase and hope to improve my playing with all these wonderful lessons, progress-tracks, live-sessions..., that Tonebase provide. It is like a dream to have access to such a kind of piano resources. And, of course, I like so much the opportunity to participate in the Community Challenges. I love piano and it has been a real stroke of luck to have met others (teachers and fellow pianists) with the same contagious enthusiasm.

Hello everyone!
My name is Gabriel.
I'm a 15 year old boy from the Philippines.
My favorite food here's the Sinigang na Salmon sa Miso, it's a really spicy, and sour dish that I really adore.
I'm currently working on Rachmaninov's Prelude in C# Minor, and am a day away to completing my first Rach piece, and after that, his G minor Prelude.
I'm really hoping that I could learn more about repertoire, proper technique, and an exceptional way to express a piece. I hope someday that they'd release violin or cello tuts. too as I'm eager to expand my musical culture.
Any-who, I'm very excited to get a kickstart at being a great musician! -
Hi. My name is Braam and I am from Gauteng in South Africa. Our favorite food here is braaivleis and rugby. (barbecue and football)
I do not have any formal training with the piano and play by ear. I hope to learn more about technique and other things to become a good pianist

Hello, Tonebase Community!
- I am from the USA-Georgia
- I am working on a ton of things-usually the pieces my 63 piano students are working on! Haha! I've got a few students who are Grade 6-8 (ABRSM levels) so I have to learn their music along with them to be able to teach them better!
- I love the Community challenge idea, and will try to join in when I can.
- I hold in-person and virtual (zoom) Soiree's, occasionally, for fun. Let me know if you ever want to play a piece for a very appreciative musical and non musical audience! Our next one is Sept. 19th, 2021 at 5pm! [email protected]
