Seeking Viennese elegance in Schubert's Valses Sentimentales

My general goal for 2022 was to become a better learner i.e., to focus on the process of learning rather than obsessing about the product. For this reason, I chose the Valses Sentimentales (how many? We'll see!) for this challenge.

I would like to play these waltzes with all of the grace and sense of courtship I can muster. Apologies for the splice: for now, I can't seem to remember what exactly belongs to which waltz - it's all too fresh.

I can't wait to learn the next few and post again. These pieces are pure joy!

Monika Tusnady Verry well! I also learn some of these sentimental waltzes for the challenge. I don't know if I will be able to play all the one that I choose, I will see. I choose the #5 #13 #18 #19 and #20.

    • Monika Tusnady This is the last, but not least, post for today - almost, I have just remembered one more to do.  You have expressed the very essence of these waltzes.  Your neatness is always beautiful to see.  Thank you.

Hello everyone! To begin with, I have tried to dust off this Impromptu op. 142 nº 2 that I played a few years ago. In the next weeks, I am going to learn at least the Moment Musicaux nº 3 in F minor, I would like to play it with the proper sound and humor.

In the Impromptu op. 142 nº 2 I find very difficult to use the sustain pedal correctly...

Juan Carlos Olite , nice playing!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm learning this piece for the Schubert challenge so wanted ask what trill you play in measure 76.  There seems to be a debate as to whether it should be played between F# and G or between F# and G#.

Juan Carlos Olite Nice! I opened the score while you were playing.  I will like to learn that impromtus, not for the chanllenge, but for my own pleasure.  I love Schubert!

Juan Carlos Olite , yes, F#-G# is what I'm playing now.  It seems to be the consensus although would still be open to interpretation since technically it wasn't marked as such in the original score.
