This was tough for me, much harder than anything in the Handel Chaconne. I think because of the speed of movement required up and down the keyboard while maintaining the touch and rhythym for the music. It is quite easy for me to know how the music should sound, the melody, the feel of it, but very difficult for me to get my hands and fingers to do it!

    • Richard George Littlewood That was pretty good Richard imho ! That speed with the leaps got to me too , I think it’s cause I need more practice than some .
      Anyway , Bravo !

    • mariannejhampton Thank you Marianne. I´m happy with it, though I slurred some of the notes. But it pushed me really hard just that first page. So that´s good.

Richard George Littlewood  I think section 1 (and 3) are some of the most challenging parts because of the leaps and octaves, so great job tackling this!

    • Brett Gilbert Are you going to put up a video? I hope so. It really motivates me knowing I have to show something to Dominic and every one else.

Richard George Littlewood Yes, these challenges really are motivating.  I'm kind of nervous when making a video for some reason, but I hope to post a video before the week is up, I'm just so busy with things (including the guitar community challenge!).

I was having login issues for tonebase.com for some reason, so I haven't been able to stay as engaged as I wanted to with this piece. I really like it, and wish we had another week to work on it! I have been working on so many other things that I haven't had time to make any videos for this piece. I'm glad to have been introduced to it, as I was not familiar with it before.

Natale Farrell I started working on it too late, and have had time to only do 4 sections so far.  Maybe we can play it for Utako next month?

Natale Farrell I’m going to try to record sections 2-4 today after my husband’s phone meetings are over.  I haven’t purchased carpet for our new home in FL yet, so the piano sounds freakishly LOUD. 😂

    • Gail Starr Sounds great Gail!!! You are doing wonderfully with the octaves! You can even play the tempo slower, it is rather brisk how are doing it, that can potentially help the octaves become a little easier, but I do enjoy your energy with this section!

Hmmm...my video did not seem to want to upload.  As you can tell, I'm having a rough time with the octaves, but I'm really enjoying learning the piece.

Gail Starr The octaves/jumps are a challenge for me too, but you sound great.  Amazing that you have a Bösendorfer.  I'm jealous!

Gail Starr I was SUPER lucky to get the piano!  My sister used to live next door to the Bosendorfer HQ in Vienna and she saw a sale for thr used one in the recital hall at a VERY reduced price nearly 30 years ago.  I happened to be in Vienna for work that week anyway, and manager let me out down a small deposit and pay it off over time.

    •   Gail Starr Wow I would love to come to your house and play your piano , guess the next best thing will be to listen to you play it . Good luck on getting the video loaded .

    • Gail Starr Keep up the great work! With the octaves, just try and relax and let the ARM do more work instead of the hand!

So cool that you are doing guitar also! Can’t wait to hear your video.

  • Have been working on 4-9. Generally focussing on the fingering for the triplets, sixths, and the cadenza.  So more or less all coming together. I think this piece is best played from memory to avoid the bumpiness of trying to read the score, turn the page, and watch hand jumps simultaneously! But step by step and here is my video of #4, and hopefully will record the rest tomorrow.

Ching Lee Goh You are so musical - great job!  And I totally agree, we need to memorize this piece because there are too many bumpy parts for us to get right while we are also reading the music.
