This sounds great! Maybe next year, as I've already committed to Piano Camp in August. I may still be recovering from that in November. 😆

    • Randi That is exciting, you will love it! Have you found Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s Tonebase lesson on it? It was so helpful to me.

    • Randi Hi Randi! Glad you're working on another moon-themed piece 🌛 One of my absolute favorite tonebase lessons – even before a very memorable week around him in the Hamptons last year!

Randi I loved his Claire de Lune lesson.  I learned the piece for one of the love recitals last year.

Is there any suggestions for potential housing option?  Also, might there one in west coast someday? Thanks!

    • Lc Hi Lc! Apologies for the late reply -- yes, here are our recommended hotels:

      • Best Western Premier Herald Square
      • Best Western Premiere Empire State
      • Sonder Henri on 24
      • Sonder Flatiron
      • Life Hotel New York

They're all within 10-20 minutes walk of the venues and conveniently located to the subway as well.

Stay tuned for updates about the West Coast, we might just have something for you :)

I've signed up for Session 2 (realized I'd only have to take 3 days off of work instead of 5). Really excited (and a bit nervous) for the experience and to meet folks in-person!

ps I live in NYC/Manhattan. I'm super inept with hotel recommendations but happy to chat about anything else!

Signed up and looking forward to seeing everyone. It would be helpful to have some ideas of what to prepare for the intensive. I just came from a piano camp where I was taking a test - so that was easy I knew what to prepare.

As we come to this camp, should we bring performance ready pieces for the masterclass or pieces we are having challenges with?

For some of the other sessions, should we bring pieces representative of a particular musical period? Is there particular repertoire that is going to be used for examples that we can download scores, watch Tonebase or otherwise inform ourselves on? I have found a little pre-study helps a lot in terms of understanding - even if it is something I'm not playing.

So I guess my overall question is some guidance to make sure I can prepare to fully enjoy the offerings.

Thanks for putting this together, I know it must be a ton of work and I'm really excited to meet everyone attending in person. I'm at Chetham's summer camp now and there are several people who are going to the Tonebase intensive and much of these same questions have been discussed.

Tim, let’s all be sure to meet up before we leave Chet’s!  Perhaps before Murray’s concert tomorrow at 7:00 pm?

Gail Starr I just left :-( ... would love to talk with you sometime. I tried to ferret out everyone who was going when I was there.

Will be exciting to be with another positive and inspiring bunch at Tonebase.

I was taking an exam last week, so I was more focused than social... I did leave inspired (and with a passing score of 86)... so I was happy but exhausted.

  • I would like to sign up as a "Visitor" for the NYC Piano Intensive. Would that allow me to observe  masterclasses - not be a participant, but simply an audience member. Also, would that include the Chopin lecture by Seymour Bernstein that was recently added?

    Like
    • Victoria Macdonald Hi Victoria! Yes, a visitor pass would absolutely allow you to observe all public events, including masterclasses and Seymour's lecture -- as well as to observe other participants having private lessons, if you wish! If that sounds good to you, go ahead and sign up for a Visitor Pass, we'd love to see you!

  • I participated in the Vermont Piano Camp in August and absolutely loved it. And… I just signed up for session one of the NYC Intensive and can’t wait to do it all again! Dominic and Noah did such a fantastic job putting this together in VT, so I know we are in for a treat in New York. I am most looking forward to the incomparable  teaching, especially the masterclasses with Seymour Bernstein, and the opportunity to be in community with others that share a passion for the piano!

    • Kakie Roberts Hi Kakie! So happy to see that you're coming to reunite with Seymour! The time up in Vermont was simply wonderful, and this will be a different flavor but another exciting experience. Looking forward so much to seeing you soon and hearing your beautiful playing again (and yours the following week, Jack!).

    • Kakie Roberts I hope to see you, Dominic Cheli and Noah Alden Hardaway today. I think Jun is coming too. I saw him at the Daniil Trifonov concert at Carnegie on 10/17.

Jack vreeland and Randi hope to see you again this summer. Good luck with all the new music you're learning.
