Thurmond's Composition to be Played (plus interview)

Our local Chamber Music festival, with Jon Kimura (Jackie) Parker as the artistic advisor, will be featuring one of Thurmond's Compositions this year in a pre-concert talk. Thurmond will be interviewed and then Jackie will perform the piece, "Waltz Ballade." The entire festival is available online for a short time, beginning 24 hours after the live concert and remaining available for 3 days. Thurmond's interview will be on August 12 before the "Embraced by Schubert" concert.        Thanks so much, Priya! Thurmond is excited for this opportunity. It has been amazing to watch him grow and mature musically over these past few years, and I am grateful for his excellent teachers who have encouraged him along the way. When he was little, he was a little late to talk, but would instead make up musical tunes to let us know what he wanted. I think music may have been his first language, which is why music seems so natural to him.

       I'll ask him if he'd play it for us. He hasn't practiced it in a bit (he played it at our state Music Teachers Association meeting last year, since it won the Young Composers Project in 2025).
