Gail's Practice Diary 2022
After many weeks away from Tonebase due to prior commitments and a loss in the family, I'm back at the piano.
May 6, 2022: Spent 1 hour listening to and learning about Cecile Chaminade in order to participate in this month's "Music from France" challenge. Since I only have 3 weeks, I selected a short piece called "Pierrette, Op. 41".
May 7, 2022: 45 minutes reading through "Pierrette", noting the key signature and trying to predict how Chaminade likes to play with harmonic progressions. I find that if I get to know a composers chordal "personality", I can learn a piece a bit faster. So far, I've noticed a tricky technical passage that repeats with triplets. Might need help with fingering so that I can play it at the correct tempo.
