I'd love some assistance on how to best memorize a fugue.  I've worked on many in the past, and rarely can play them from memory after a break.

Gail Starr So hard for me too. Every step of my process is painstakingly slow and unreliable.

I would love to hear your take on the gorgeous B-flat minor fugue no.22 (5 voices) from WTC-1. I love how it is so “bare” but then there is so much to bring out in terms of the stark and austere counterpoint.

Perhaps some help in making sense of this page. But I don't think there's enough time to cover everything on it.  I'm not sure of the difference between a 3-part Fugue versus a Triple Fugue, for example.

Hello! I always enjoy watching these lessons when I can. Such clarity!

The way you highlighted Bach's meticulousness reveals why his music is so ingenious. Wonderful analysis that illuminates things quite significantly. Thank you!

  • I had to go before my question was answered, so I'll clarify: I was asking about Double/Triple Fugues: When the second subject of a double fugue is introduced, should it be introduced in all voices wholly first, as with the first subject, or is there more freedom there?

  • Very good lecture on fugues! I spent 14 years in music school and years in piano lessons and was never taught some of this.
