Questions:
Is there a "hierarchy" of ways to analyze a piece of music?
Technically? Spiritually? Philosophically? Contextually/Historically? "Musically"? Physically? Mentally? Emotionally? Tactile? Auditory? Veracity of performance related to composer's intent as seen in the score? Other ways to analyze...
If so, is it a "shifting" hierarchy related to many factors, not least of which may be the performer's mindset and relationship with the music?
If not, how would you categorize analyzing music effectively and efficiently to aid the best performances?
We all know we can "overthink" things. How can that impact a musician? What is a healthy approach to analysis of music in your view?
