Heartland, composed by Keith Jarrett has been on my “unfinished business” list for many years. It still isn’t finished, but I am happy that i can add it to my daily repertoire and in time, it will be at a place where I am happy with it.

https://youtu.be/qPiEsVuL9LQ Hello Dominic, thank you or this challenge. The Waltz in E by Moszkowski is an ongoing challenge for me and it really falls into the category of "Unfinished Business" for me.

Thank you! I was definitely pleased with where I got it to over the duration of the challenge. 10 years ago me feels very vindicated.

       Thank you Aaron!

Great Job Dustin! You did amazing! Just one question, how did you record that view of the piano?

Hi Aarav. I use a boom mic stand and have a camera attached to the end of it pointed down.  Here is a picture of the setup.

Which Yamaha grand is that? I dream of buying a C3X.

I was close! How do you like it? Did you buy it new? I don’t think the line has been out that long.

You were very close =) I bought it new about 14 months ago. I really love it and have a hard time remembering what it was like before having it. My students also love it, particularly since the recital space we use throughout the year has a C3X, so they feel very familiar with it under their fingers when it is time to perform.

I was afraid you were going to say that. :)

I started negotiations with my wife about getting a grand but it has not been going well.

We would have to move and find an apartment that would comfortably fit a grand. In our small house, there is one interior wall that fits an upright and no place for a grand.

Some days, I think I should be happy with my upright and practice more.

Look at the control Igor Levit has over an upright, and it’s not a perfect upright!

Your upright is the YUS-5 though right? That is a great upright =) Your link to Igor Levit's performance just goes to show...

Yes, it’s a YUS5. It has German strings, Roslau, and German felts, Wurzen. It’s the best German piano that the Japanese know how to make. :)

It’s a Japanese piano that speaks German.

And, yes, it is certainly the pilot.

Every time my teacher played my piano, the sound leapt out of it.
