Perpetual Motion Etudes

I haven't been on the discussion threads in ages, but I just got all the Jeremy Siskind books, and the Perpetual Motion Etudes, and I’m just wondering will there ever be a tonebase course on them or his works, or is that something anyone else would be interested in?

I want to teach myself Jazz. I already play Irish music and we do improvise within the tunes but we call it variations, and a lot of the trad piano accompaniment/vamping is now Jazz orientated.

There’s been an awful lot of Fusion and cross-pollination of styles since Riverdance, Sean O Riada and The Chieftains (who fused with Classical). They even did an Album with James Galway. Even early on though, O’ Carolan the Harpist was influenced by Corelli and Vivaldi, because that was the music popular in the big houses with the English ascendancy.

I joined Piano with Johnny for a few months, but I’m pure Irish music and I did up to RIAM grade 8 in Classical piano. I tried doing a piano diploma, but I was sick so I had to give it up, but might go back and finish it one day. I don’t have the time to put into pwj.com and I prefer tonebase, and it’s a much higher standard, and I liked the Intro to Jazz course so I got the Jeremy Siskind books, even though they’re both good, Tonebase and Piano With Johnny. I play trad and classical flute too.

Jazz just isn’t something I was ever really taught at piano lessons even though we did Scott Joplin, and Gershwin, and Christopher Norton. I’m interested in learning Jazz, Jazz Theory, lead sheets, and Jazz chords and scales. It will take a few years to get through the books, but worth it. I also got the Jazzology theory book and Berklee Jazz Composition books.

I just wanted to know if there will be courses on his pieces and more Jazz courses?

Jazz Fusion with Irish Music

E.g. North Cregg’s Ciaran Coughlan (who taught me in UL), Caoimhin Vallely, and Niall Keegan. Niall Keegan was my course director in UL and Micheal was head of the music department when I attended. Even Geraldine Cotter who also taught me piano in UL fuses Jazz with Irish Trad.
