Week 2: New Applications

Thanks for joining me at the Zoom live check-in! Here's the assignment for our second week of Chopin ornaments:

1. Work on the Chopin ornaments from Week 1, learning more of the Mazurka where you found them (Op. 50 nr. 1 or Op. 50 nr. 2). Or, if you have another piece you're practicing, use concepts from this two-week intensive and apply them to that piece.

Submit a video of your progress by July 30!

Thanks everyone - it's a pleasure work with you all on Fryc's many ornaments and I hope to hear more of your work in the next few days!

Hello Jarred, my second video; I have tried to play the Waltz with more attention to the different ornaments, but I need to practice more and more... I am sorry I couldn't attend the zoom meeting.

Juan Carlos Olite much better arpeggiated chords! As you move up the keyboard keep working on using your arm to let your thumb fall (you can lean a bit to the right in order to make room for your arm). Graces sound better! In the waltz, keep your arms closer to the keys before grace notes or trills, I would say the more fluid sound here comes from seamlessly transitioning between the main text and graces. Let me know if you have any questions!

Jarrer Dunn Thank you so much, Jarred! I understand all your remarks, they are very clear. It is my work to put them into practice.

I missed the deadline here for videos, this was a bit over my head, however I was definitely able to apply the fingering for the trill on another piece (not Chopin but same notes) that I have worked on in the past and had difficulty with and it worked like a charm!
