Hi all! I decided not to work on one of the pieces, but to work on C- harmonic scale with the groupings or rhythms. This is a 4-note grouping - one long note and 3 fast notes. I was practicing and then recorded the scale at quarter note = 150 BPM. Then I show how I practiced, by isolating each group. I note that my LH lags behind a bit.

At the end, my final scale doesn't seem as good as the beginning? 😅 My goal is to play it at 160 BPM comfortably.

I chose C- because I'm working on Chopin Etude 25/12 which is in C-.

Lin W. Super hard work! More or less, that’s the way I practice scales too. It takes time, effort, patience and sweat!😅
I think that every time you play the scale I’m hearing something missing in your left hand; not sure about that, but it may be around the e flat. Try to listen to yourself and focus on the hard passage!
keep on studying hard, I wanna hear your 160 bpm scales, a hit I’ll never reach! 😂

  • Hi, It took me awhile to find this chat. I didn't know what to work on so I started with Czerny. I have never played Czerny before, but I enjoyed this. I have been playing the piano since I was nine. I am teaching young ones. It's really good to be a part of this intensive .

Dominic Cheli Lovely! Would love to know your secret to such crisp Alberti bass- how did you learn/practice it, or has that just evolved over many years?

  • Here is my second Czerny 61, I was not so concerned about speed. More about smoothing it out.

yes, sounds good under control and quite relaxed. I think, if you work on it in groupings you will get also a faster tempo. Hear also your Chopin Impromptu 👍

    • Kerstin Thank you Kersitin, the groupings are very effective. I will continue to work the groupings into the practice. Thank you on the Chopin. I thought I had isolated out my other videos. LOL!

Chopin is very interesting, because you can play it in different tempos and it sounds always good. 🌼

    • Kerstin Yes indeed. I am working on the ballad #1, I am not any Chopin expert, I find in practicing at time, to really stretch out phrasing, in in some odd way, I feel like I get a better sense of the piece.

This is my Burgmuller. I'm trying to have a relaxed hand when I play. What do you think? Does it look and sound like it's relaxed or tense?

    • Kerstin  Hi Kirstin, sounds good, crisp and clean. I will have to get mine posted, not up to that speed, right now. My only thought is trying it lighter and more relaxed. And see what kind of difference it makes. Keep it up.
