Hi, does exist specific keyboard shortcuts for the video? Something like: setup the speed, going to full screen, etc.

    Thx.

Michelle Thanks for replying, Michelle!  I'm new here so am in the dark about much of TB.  Working through it, though.  Maybe we'll get the answer to this!

      Michelle

I haven’t done a Mentorship program yet but 2 of my friends are and they love it.  You spend time talking with an expert coach selecting the piece you want to work on for 90 days.  Then, every week you submit a practice diary and a video and you get back a super detailed videos plus written notes of what to work on.  You are get real-time Zoom calls occasionally with your coach, too.

i plan to do one as soon as i get a bit of free time.

i think there is a place on the website to learn more but o haven’t looked for it yet.

Vicky Hi Vicky, like Gail Starr explained, I believe it's called Tonebase Coaching. You should have also received mailers in your email on this. Thanks everyone!

  • Hi Dominic - I have a question about Chopin pedaling based on Garrick's videos. Should I post with you?

    • Pat Van Buskirk sure just post here!

  • Re Chopin pedaling, e.g., Op 72, No 1, bar 2, et al - pedal is released on C in my scores (Paderewski & Cortot), but then a bit of a jump to the low E. This release, followed by a long extension, is repeated elsewhere. Should there be a slight break or a bit of a pedal to connect the C to the E? Thank you so much!

    • Pat Van Buskirk Interestingly, the Ekier has put the pedal mark at the bar-line, but remarks that this pedal marking may not be authentic. Anyway, with this piece I would not like a gap in pedal, and make sure to legato-pedal throughout. Let the ear be your guide, is what I would suggest.

    • Sindre Skarelven Garrick Ollson, in his course on Musicianship Skills on Pedaling, mentions that the pedal change with the bass/harmony change is the more modern style, but that Chopin actually wrote releases on the last one or two notes of a measure. He shows this in his facsimile of Chopin's actual writings. I'm just curious about what one would do when the gap between notes it too large for the hand or even finger substitution. Enigma :-)

New to Tonebase.  How do we sign up for a mentorship?  It seems to ask for an access code.

    Thanks

  • Hi, I'm on the 14-day trial. I love your videos, but am having trouble finding workbooks that correspond to a lot of them. For example the "10 scale challenge." In the first video set there are etudes by Clementi and Mozart that correspond to the C major scale. Do I have to scan the videos to try these out. For me, I'm new enough to playing that it's not one and done with these. It would be very helpful to have the corresponding scores in a workbook. Am I missing something?

    Thanks.
