The Meteoric Talent and Human Tragedy of Jacqueline du Pré

Celebrated cellist Matt Haimovitz is here to discuss 'Jacqueline' -- a powerful, award-winning new opera that dives into the real-life struggle between famed cellist Jacqueline du Pré and the multiple sclerosis that ravaged her body, mind, and talent – robbing her of her identity, her breathtaking musical gift, and ultimately her life. The story is brought to life by celebrated American soprano Marnie Breckenridge (as Jacqueline) and former du Pré protégé and world-renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz, playing the role of her constant companion: her cello. With Haimovitz as our guide, this livestream will delve deeply into the personal and musical life of the great artist.

I wanted to add to the resources here that I fondly remember, by mentioning a wonderful documentary by Christopher Nupen (Allegro Films) called "Remembering Jacqueline Du Pre".  I'm looking forward to the discussion.  Thank you,  Paul Jezick

I am SO very grateful to Tonebase for giving us the option of seeing webinars after the fact when we couldn't make it the first time. Just finished watching this riveting and deeply inspiring webinar. I learned a lot and am making plans to be there when I believe it returns to TO in February '25.
