Shaw-Jiun Wang Same here, although I haven't really tried to memorize until recently.  Until i started Tonebase, I was only playing chamber music with my friends.

It sounds better on my iPhone, so I'll do that.

Here's a Question for Dominic or anyone else who uses ForScore:  is there a particular source of PDF scores that are particularly compatible with ForScore?

I've recently tried using ForScore more with my iPad.  it has a lot of nice options, including allowing multiple "pages"  where you can put different kinds of annotations, and then either hide them when the screen gets too cluttered, or show some or all of them simultaneously if you wish.

It's great, but it seems that some PDF scores are harder to work with than others, as far as navigating to the right spot to make your entry.

the scores don't have to be free, happy to pay for them if they work better.

Great presentation, thank you Domenic! For making different types of markings on your pdf score in Forscore on an iPad, do you recommend using different layers? Might you want to toggle off some of them at times to avoid clutter for example?

  • I have trouble in ForScore marking in the top and bottom margins - the tools bar covers up the blank space. Is there a way to work around this?

Harriet Kaplan You can move the annotate toolbar - on my ipad there is a symbol with three horizontal lines. Grab that and move the toolbar up and down.

What about "nicknaming" different sections so we always have various landmarks to come back to in case of a memory slip during a concert?  I used to do that as a kid when I played with youth orchestras.

  • Thank you Dominic. I already use to do some markings like you told us, but some of them were completely new and very interesting. Start using in 3, 2 1....
