  • Hi

How would you compare the Liszt Exercises with the Cortot Rational Principles of Pianoforte Technique, Leschetizky Fundamental Principles of Piano Technique, and the Brahms 51 Exercises for piano? Also the Exercises of Aloys Schmitt and Clementi - Gradus ad Parnassum?

I would also like your opinion on Hanon Revisited by Arthur Gold and Robert Fizdale.

Lastly , I used to have a set of Exercises By Emile von Sauer but I have since lost the score and the Name of the Excercises. I found them particularly good when I was starting out as a teenager.

    Thank You

    Peter

Peter Di Giorgio my goodness, you ARE knowledgeable about exercises! You must play and perhaps teach piano at an extremely high level!

    • Monika Tusnady Thank you Monika,

You are very kind and gracious. I used to study a lot in my youth but unfortunately don't do much practice these days. However I am looking forward to getting back into some practice this year. I am enjoying Tonebase and its wonderful approach.

      Warm regards🙂

Would you say that Liszt's exercises for the piano are better for developing a certain skill set and Chopin's are better for a different skill set? Or is that too simplistic?

What is the essence of Liszt's exercises for the piano compared to, say, Chopin's exercises or other comparable composers' exercises? And why would I choose one over the other?
