Hi! The three submissions were very well done.  Thank you all for being brave and sending in your videos for those of us who watch and learn from listening.  Dominic, your thoughtful feedback included a lot of detail.  You obviously listened carefully to each submission and took notes on exactly how to help.  I thought you were very tactful and kind, as well.  While all three played very well, we're all very sensitive when we put ourselves out there for support.  You obviously take this into consideration with your feedback. And last, but not least, I learned a lot from your insightful perspective on each piece. I can carry these nuggets to other repertoire and apply, as well. The additional information you gave reminding us of the time historical period and life circumstance for each composer is appreciated. (Liszt: speed fast horses, Beethoven's life & style).  The comparison of orchestra vs singer was a very clear.  I'm mentioning these details because I thought the teaching style works very well and really helps me. I encourage you to help us learn more via this style of teaching. PS: And thank you for your response re your experience performing with Shigeru. I've not made a decision as to an instrument, but it def helps to get unbiased feedback. Wishing you all a great day and productive musical growth!

Here's the video of my student, Luya Chen. She's 7 years old and will play Bach Minuet in G minor and Paganini variations of the 24th caprice by Isaak Bekovich

Dominic thank you! The master class was very informative. The amount of information on stylistic approach, back ground information and interpretation makes great learning for playing the other music of the composers.  Angelina The live forum is catered for all TONEBASE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.  If we all starting sending videos of our students, I'm afraid that not only will we be taking away valuable opportunities from other paying members, but open a can of worms where random videos of any piano playing could be submitted.

    • Jeff Hi Jeff, thanks for the message. I was just responding to Dominic who said it was ok to send a video or two of my students. Feel free to delete that video and link if it's not appropriate. Sorry for the confusion.

We have been discussing this concept of benefiting tonebase users to the best of our ability in masterclasses. I agree that the masterclass format is reserved and prioritized for our community members! But we also want to help fellow teachers on tonebase find solutions for their students! So we will be accepting videos of your students to feature in our masterclasses, however on a much more infrequent basis than our regular masterclass series. While Regular masterclasses can be as often as once a week (or more depending on the volume of submissions), masterclasses for students of teachers would be once a month. We will continue to always give priority to submissions of tonebase member's playing!
