LDS Hymn # 169 - Experimenting with on-camera recording

I have not done very many on-camera recordings, but luckily I have one I did with only one take.  This is Hymn 169 in my LDS Hymn book. I added my own variation on the repeated section.  This is an audio recording on my Kawai CA5 using piano+strings.  I love adding variations to pieces. Sometime I will record a composition of mine before I forget it. Most of it is still in my head.

Sorry about the long hair.  It was during the COVID period.  I am not an expert on recording techniques.  I used a Blue Yeti. The audio from the camera was removed and I got a better recording by playing back the MIDI separately and then synchronizing the video with sound in Adobe Premiere.

All my recordings are recorded to MIDI first, so I can playback with various instruments and have a permanent blueprint.

  • How fantastic that you have that technical knowledge! I like the addition of the strings, and I really liked your variation. I get locked in on the notes--hoping to break out of that at some point! Thank you for posting :-)
