  • Hi - I really enjoy and get so much useful information from Dominics' seminars. I rarely get to go  when they are presented but watch them once they post on the tone base site. These are great - thanks Dominic

A wonderful and timely topic for me - I am in a piano lesson during this time, but will be sure to catch the recording afterward.

  • I can't wait to watch it. I struggle so much with staying motivated to practice it regularly. And therefore, not making much progress.

    1. can you talk about which fingering to use for left hand? 5-4 vs 5-3 for C major or G major?

    2. how to play faster without losing clarity and accuracy?

    3. do you suggest using metronomes to practice?

Great timing.  Please share some tips on LOUD fast arpeggios.

I'm working on Debussy Reflets dans l'eau for a recital.  Measure57 with the double arpeggios is giving me lots of trouble.  At 150bpm (per octave) it's somewhat okay at when it isn't loud, but if I do the crescendo , that's when iffy (especially on the way down). My left hand is the weaker link. It doesn't help that the highest note on left end isn't on the thumb, so I seem to lost a lost my way going down.

It seems like when doing loud arpeggios, I ended up with flatter fingers, and hence much clumsy.  Any tips is very much appreciate.

Would love help with recurring sparkling descending arpeggios in Chopin Scherzo 4, especially as these directly follow passagework e.g.mm 654-672. These should be fleet and feather-light, but I'm having trouble getting them up to a reasonable speed.

    2 things:

    1. Thank you for another great webinar. Dominic Cheli were you going to add a document with "11 Russian chords"? Is it here someplace and I don't see them?

    2. When practicing blocks of 3 in arpeggios using a single white note , e.g. D flat major, which notes should be in the fast block? Should I stop on the thumb? Or should the thumb be in the middle of the block? Or should I practice both ways?

    Thank u!

    • Randi You should practice it both ways :)

Thumb only if doing 1 octave!

Otherwise, practice the normal fingering for the fast blocks!

it's very helpful insight. I loved it.  I always wonder when I practice scales across 3 to 4 octave how can I not streach my hands to far which is out of shape ,rotating your hip is very good tip . I tied it woks. thank you Dominic.  I am new to the app, is there any where I can find your recommended daily practice routine for different level, so if the student is following the practice routine based on their level , there is more assurence that they elevate their skill levels

    • Daisy Right now I have this video and a past video on arpeggios available. In January we have a whole series of courses coming out for specific technique at specific levels. Stay tuned!
