Video recording advice
Hi all,
Season's greetings. I'm looking for advice on how to record myself best for posting my playing here and elsewhere.
I find 2 issues. First, it seems like most native recording apps on PC or phones are designed around recording speech, so tend to mask out frequencies that are lower or higher, and also assume anything incidental (loud or quiet) is noise to be masked or otherwise homogenized in its dB level with the rest. So my question is, what app would the group recommend to record video that doesn't preprocess it (keeps it raw). I am a native Windows speaker and don't know Mac. The audio only app for Windows (PC or laptop) would be Audacity. Is there a video equivalent that people recommend?
Second, the room with the piano is large with bare walls and hardwood floors, so it's pretty 'live' in the reverb sense. This makes for some disortions with dissonant harmonies. How do people modify their rooms for recording? I was thinking of putting blankets on everything.
Thanks in advance for the tips. And sorry if this was covered in another thread.

Depending on your budget and the equipment you have available, it's best to use a microphone that is separate from your video camera or laptop computer.
This makes it possible to put the camera in the best location for video (usually on the side with the pianist) and the mic in the best location for sound (usually on the side opposite the pianist).
