Hello and welcome to the WEEK THREE Main Thread for this challenge! 🤩

Alright everyone - this is the thread where we'll all be posting our daily updates.

Twice a week between May 1st - 7th I hope to be reading your daily updates in this very thread right here!

Here is this week's assignment!

1. Submit a practice video or recording of your piece!

We are gearing up for a Tchaikovsky Celebratory Watch party on his Birthday May 7th at 9am Pacific TIME, so make sure to post your video so it can be shared!

I have found many difficulties in this beautiful piece: phrasing, accurate sound, middle section with the tempo variation... But, there's no much time to practice for the challenge. So, here is the video:

  Juan Carlos Olite I love how the phrasing has a gentle urgency, at times, but then you pull back and stretch it other times! Very nice, Juan Carlos, so beautifully played!

I've recorded my wife, Kay Hanna, also playing Tchaikovsky"s "June" from the "The Seasons". She says she enjoyed reading through some of his less challenging repetoire and rediscovering some of the richness of his material before deciding to enjoy the celebration of "June".

  While Kay felt more connected to the piece when playing the above take, we decided that it suffered some from having been recorded to the cloud rather than to my laptop, and we got another take that ultimately was smoother for her final version. So I'm posting that second take here below. Thanks to everyone who has already commented on the first version!

Posting an excerpt of my practice from Tchaikovsky’s Romance in F Minor. It was composed in 1868 and dedicated to soprano Désirée Artôt. I underestimated the length/complexity of the piece and overestimated how much practice time I had. It’s a beautiful piece and I look forward to spending many more hours with it.
