Kleine Studie,Op. 68 No. 14, by Robert Schumann

This work from The Album for the Young is in the Level I set of recommended pieces at ToneBase-Piano. I am working through all the repertoire recommended, along with the accompanying technique and pedagogy videos at Level I.

Kleine Studie has a provides me with an opportunity to use the choreography of the hands and arms in performing the arpeggiated chords. The harmony comforting, yet intriguing enough to make the process of mastering the technical aspects of the piece enjoyable.

I hope to get some feedback on a forum on a harmonic analysis of the piece as a side project to apply piano theory to this relatively simple work.

  • Great!  Have you watched Seymour Bernstein's lessons on these pieces?  He doesn't cover No.14, but his ideas will apply to all the pieces.

  • Good luck and enjoy! There are some very beautiful pieces in that set. I particularly like "First Loss".
