Where to start (Grading the difficulty)!

Hopefully you have read the Rules & FAQ for Liszt's Soirees De Vienne Community Challenge!

If you are still feeling like you need some direction on where to start in this work, let me give you some advice!

I labeled and divided the piece into sections 1-9, check it out below!

Download a score with section numbers for managing your practice!

Liszt's: Soirees De Vienne No.6

Grading the Difficulty of the sections:

Easy:

Section 2: a short cheerful waltz!

Section 1: An assertive waltz with power, and octaves as melody and accompaniment

Section 3: A reprise of Section 1, quite similar!

Section 8: There are some rather large leaps/rolled chords in the left hand. Take your time and play them slowly/calmly!

Intermediate:

Section 4: The focal point of the piece, this is the main waltz that will be heard, it is rather lengthy!

Section 6: A reprise of part of Section 4,  some octave work in the Right Hand!

Advanced:

Section 5: A virtuosic variation of Section 4, with notes twisting and turning all about!

Section 7: Continuing in the virtuosity of Section 5, we are developing the music further heading toward the cadenza!

Section 9: This fleet passagework takes us to the delectable conclusion of the work!
