New with tonebase / coming from pianomarvel

Hi all.

I'm a self-taught guitar player turned into the world of keyboard over the last year. I started with Pianomarvel and I'm just finishing the courses offered in that platform. I'd like to say that what I've learned there has me somewhere close to intermediate level, and tonebase seems to be a good place to continue refining skills.

I want to improve my sight reading, as well as gain more fluidity with general technique, scales, chord progressions, arpeggios, etc. Ultimately, my aspirations with the instrument are more from the perspective of composition and improvisation, more than becoming a solid performer of repertoire, although studying certain landmark pieces is also something that I'm very excited about.

I'm just entering into tonebase, would love your advice or comments on where to start based on that brief description. Cheers!

  • Hi, and welcome!

I had never heard of pianomarvel, but after checking it out it looks like a great starting point for your piano journey.

I love Tonebase so I think you’re in a good place! You can just browse whatever you are looking for; technique, scales, and perharps some intermediate pieces you would like to try on. It might be a good idea to start of with Penelope Roskell’s technique training.

There are also live-sessions that you might want to check out. I personally love that part of Tonebase very much.

Hope this helps a little :)
