What information do you offer your students that you think is essential? Timeless.

  • Hi Dominic ! I have listened to this interview over the last few days. Very enjoyable! It was such a great and free flowing conversation, and you both had many deep insights into different topics.

I thought it was funny that you mentioned the warming of the hands before concerts, because I always do that! Also, I like to warm up the big muscles (as mentioned), and the strength of fingers.

I hope you will  follow up on bringing in an expert on physiology. I've had my share of challenges, especially with my back, neck and shoulders. I've learned some stretching exercises and I do some yoga and chi gong, witch is beneficial. I think learning about this in regards to piano playing is something we should do more of. I try to teach my students healthy technique both for piano playing, but also to avoid injuries and problems. The talk with Penelope Roskell did touch on this subject, witch was very good.
