New Year, New Goals!

Every New Year, we envision a different self that what we are now, and create our resolutions based on that image. Has it worked much? for most of us I think I can safely say "no"! But why? Why does that happen (and keep happening for some of us) and how can we actually set ourselves up for success? The answer is to ask yourself "What CAN I be?" rather than "What SHOULD I be?" In this workshop, we will be discussing how to make goals for the New Year that actually make sense for ourselves, and going over some examples of how to do so. Let's get both "evolving" and "resolving" together!

I missed the livestream, but watched the replay today. I put together my lists while I watched, and I am ready to practice in 2024!

  • WHAT AM I PROUD OF THAT I DID IN 2023?

In 2023 I started two Choruses and had two performances with each.

I learned “Rejoice” from Messiah and survived playing it with a soprano at Christmas.

I learned and conducted segments of several pieces, including Debussy’s “Images” and Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George.

I performed a duet from Bach’s B minor Mass with David Hill. 😮

WHAT DO I WISH I HAD DONE IN 2023?

I wish I had organized my apartment so I could have practiced more and started writing music again.

I wish I had worked more on sight reading, chamber music (violin/piano) and musical theater.

I wish I had vocalized on a daily basis.

GOALS FOR 2024: WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Learn at least an entire movement of the orchestral pieces I am learning, if not the entire symphony. Get better at transposition!

THOROUGHLY learn the pieces I am to play with students.

Revise my compositions for children’s chorus so I can incorporate them into my programs, or even get into a momentum to write more.

Prepare solfège charts for my choral students.

Renew my Finale membership and get a page turning pedal.

SIGN UP FOR PIANO LESSONS. Be open to new connections!
