Join today's livestream to celebrate pianist Jarred Dunn's new CD release, Schumann Daydreams, out now on Lexicon Classics! Hailed as "a piano sound-colour magician" (Muzikos Barai), Dunn takes us through Robert Schumann's inner world - from the youthful nostalgia of Kinderszenen and the tender Arabeske, to the haunting Waldszenen and the turbulent Sonata in F-sharp minor, Op. 11. Hear from the artist himself, enjoy selections from the album, and bring your questions about Schumann and his music!

I can’t wait to listen to the CD. I see I have access to three other CDs by Jarred.

Wow.  This webinar was so revelatory.  One can become a better pianist  just by listening to these ideas.  Thank you so much .

Terrific webinar! Thank you for making the recording available so that I could listen to the second half.

Tonight, I started listening to the CD. It is wonderful.

Does anybody else think that the tracks for Kinderszenen are quieter than the tracks for the Sonata?

I have plenty of gain in my preamplifier, so, I am fine with turning up the volume, but I wonder about others. I don't know which of Tidal or Qobuz under Roon I was streaming from. What is it like under Spotify?

I spent some time looking at the interface to my DAC to see if I accidentally changed a gain setting over there. I couldn't find anything wrong.

    Perhaps  can comment.

Thank you for listening, first and foremost, and thanks for flagging this! I just listened on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube (using my iPhone), everything was similar in terms of gain, I didn't hear a noticeable difference between the Op. 15 and the rest of the album. Don't know why you're experiencing that!

       Thanks for the reply.

I am streaming lossless from Tidal, 96kHz 24bit. I think Apple Music is also streaming lossless at the same sampling rate so the masters should be the same in terms of loudness normalization.

I will listen some more today to see if I still notice a difference.

Your recording sounds glorious upsampled to 768kHz / 24 bit on my DAC.

But, of course, nothing beats a live performance.
      Any plans to visit Pittsburgh?

Would be a pleasure to play in Pittsburgh! But I've never played there and don't know the scene...will let you know if something comes up!

       Sounds good!

Pittsburgh has a world class symphony and a chamber music series,

Pittsburgh was the richest city in America back in the early 1900s due to steel and coal.

My wife and I are pandemic refugees from Manhattan. We lived out of three suitcases for five months at the beginning of the pandemic and decided to move here.

When we first arrived, we stayed at an Airbnb in a house that George Gershwin had spent a night in when he premiered an opera in Pittsburgh. He played a concert with the pianist Oscar Levant in that house.

To add to the coincidences, that house was on the street where Jonas Salk lived when he discovered the polio vaccine at the University of Pittsburgh.
