Miyoung's practice diary - Chopin Barcarolle Op. 60

Hi, I'm new to toneBase.

I'm currently working on Chopin's Barcarolle. It's been about 2 months focusing on practicing this piece. I just caught up with the speed, and will work on carving details over the next 1-2 months.

I performed that piece a couple of years ago. It is truly the best Barcarolle I've found.

    As of Dec 5, 2023.

I feel lost between getting and not getting it. Need to keep practicing to absorb the notes to be more fluent.

Wow thank you so much for sharing this. This piece is likely my big project for 2024. I'd love to follow along your progress!

One question I have so far is: what measures/sections have you found to be the trickiest and most difficult for you?

Khoa Phan Howard Overall, I figured that the right hand finger #4 needs some strength. Especially when playing 7th or 6th in measures like #14, 15, 18, and alike. And the short trills in the beginning, like measure #11, 12, 13 are often not clearly articulated, so these are kind of unexpectedly tricky parts. It might depend on piano's action. My piano I'm practicing on has heavy keys, so it might not be an issue with a piano with very responsive keys.

Miyoung Choi I definitely have some pieces in mind that match my current level.  I just started private lessons 2 weeks ago, so I think I'll chat with my new teacher this week to pick some pieces to help me improve BEFORE I even try to start this gorgeous work.

And... performed for an audience of about 50 people (I think?) on Jan 20, 2024!

This piece was too fresh at the time of performing, and I still need to learn how to handle this on stage.
