General Information

Hey everyone!

We know that alot of you have your own concerts and events going on in your personal lives, so I wanted to create this section in the forums where you can share links to upcoming live-streamed concerts, and more!

That way, if you want to share it with all your friends on tonebase, they can come here to check out your events!

Feel free to start your own discussion pages in the main page of this section if you wish.

Happy concertizing!

Gail Starr or anyone else who would like to hear this *live* but can't make the time: we're doing a piano run-through (probably not voice; that depends on whether or not we decide to use a collaborative pianist for that section) at the venue some day during the week prior, and I'll be setting up a livestream to make sure everything works ok. Let me know if you'd like the link to that once we have a set date/time.

Gail Starr (and anyone else interested), we have access to the venue and piano tomorrow, Thursday, at around noon Pacific Time for a rehearsal.  I don't think he's playing the entire program, but I'll be very happy if you join in so I can see if the set up I have is going to work. Here's the info:

Thurmond Russell is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Michelle R So lovely that he's starting the recital with the Schumann Kinderscenen I JUST started learning a couple of days ago!  He's got such a beautiful sense of phrasing and understanding which voice to bring out.

Gail Starr Thanks so much, Gail. He learned phrasing from his first private teacher, who really focused on this aspect with him. With his current teacher, he's learning even more about voicing and interpretation. He wasn't happy with his piano performance, but it's a learning experience which he'll take into his next recital!

Michelle R Please tell Thurmond that I'm really impressed with all his hard work.  He brings out interesting voicings in his pieces and says new things.  He has a bright future ahead of him!  Thank you for letting us share this special experience.

Michelle R And he has a lovely voice.  Does he have a private singing teacher?

Michelle R And I loved his Gilbert & Sullivan patter song at the end.  He's such a charmer.

Gail Starr Thanks so much, Gail! And Thurmond sends his thanks for all your comments, as well.

His piano teacher both allows and encourages him to find his own voice and interpretation at the piano. Heā€™s been wonderful for Thurmond. And, yes, he does have a private voice teacher (a Met opera baritone) - theyā€™ve been working together since May. Thurmond has caught on quickly. He, too, encourages Thurmond to find his own voice. I heard him say to Thurmond, ā€œDonā€™t try to sound like me. You have your own voice.ā€

Great! That is awsome! I can share my last participation at my piano teacher students concert, this last saturday, June 15, 2024, at Piano Vertu in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

It was my second time, in my all life, that I played piano on a scene.

This time I could control better my anxiety. Even if I made mistakes, because of my nervosity who came directly in my fingers, I did not stop playing.

And secondly I played without looking at the scores.

For me itā€™s remain a great accomplishment.

I playded Sinfonia 15 from Bach and FĆ¼r Elise from Beethoven.
