I would like to play Scott Joplin’s “Pine Apple Rag.” I’ll plan to play live but may have to submit a video if I have to be out of town (still waiting to find out.)

It looks like neither of my pieces (the Bach G Major P&F and the Rach A Major Prelude) will be ready to perform.  I'll be away for the next 10+ days and unable to practice.  and they still need LOTS of practice!  So I'll take those off the list.

I'll be happy to be a spectator for what's shaping up to be a very diverse and interesting concert. I could still do one of my pop songs if there was interest, but given all the sign-ups I'd also be fine sitting this one out if we were short of time.

  • Unfortunately my Kapustin is not getting up, so I will replace it with a short piece by Miriam Hyde (Australian composer) and send a video of that and the aforementioned Chopin (Op. 62, no. 2) quite soon

  • I would love to join - I think I’d like to play a piece I’ve been working on written by a female composer named Lucy Hackett - from a book of 22 Nocturns inspired by Chopin - it’s called “The Moth” ❤️

Hi Dominic, here is the Chopin Sonata 3. I don’t have time to record the first movement again separatly. So I send this recording where I have played for my friends 4 weeks ago. First movement was the best. See you next Satursay.

  • It seems I'm away for a little weekend trip next week, so unfortunately I can't play live. But I will be logged in for the concert, listening. So I decided to make a recording of my as well. This is Mozart K332 in F-major. Still a work in progress. Feel free to skip it in the concert if it gets too long!
    Looking forward to hear everyone!

Sindre Skarelven hi Sindre, I couldn’t help but take a sneak peek at this while I have been traveling, and have really enjoyed it. I would call it a very spirited lively, well-thought-out & nuanced performance. I’m glad you posted the whole sonata. It was a lot of fun to hear it all the way through. Mozart seems to be playing around with a succession of seemingly unrelated themes, many of which reappear in the development sections. It has a great feeling of spontaneity to it, right down to the surprise coda to end the 3rd movement, and you convey all of that extremely well! And all from memory without a flinch! Great job!

    • Peter Golemme Thanks so much, Peter! Yes I agree, Mozart's composing style in this one is very much going from idea to the next, tied together in the structural forms of the sonata. The first movement is very orchestral, thinking of different instrument groups playing different themes, the second movement very singable, and the thirds movement has some toccata elements, but also going through different ideas. Thanks for listening!

Sindre Skarelven Also, thanks to some Tonebase lessons, I've learned that Mozart is playing around with a lot of Partimento devices in this sonata..  I wonder whether that was an underlying theme unifying some of the diverse motifs?  (I don't really know enough yet about partimento to do more than wonder at this time, but maybe that's part of what's going on here?)

I won't be home that date, I wish I could join.

I see there's plenty of joy and summer warmth in this schedule: lots of bright Bach I'm so happy for, this time! Happy Summer, y'all!

Could I make a game-day call? My G Major Prelude and Fugue from WTC Book 1 may be ready after some last minute cramming, or if not I could substitute an improvised version of the Beatles' song "Mother Nature's Son".
