  • Here's my submission for the Debussy Golliwogg's Cake Walk.

I had a lot of slips today so getting a clean run through turned out to be quite an exhausting business (lost count of the many takes and false starts) ... though I'm glad I finally got a somewhat decent one in the end.

It has been my plan to eventually learn all the pieces in the Children's Corner Suite so I'm happy to have picked it for the challenge. Three down, three more to go. I hope you enjoy it :)

Priya Viseskul Sounds great! You bring out the humor well and your tempo/rubato decisions made sense to me.

I know the feeling of going though 50 takes to get one that’s “good enough”…haha. Pretty amazing for a month’s work.

  • Here's my final submission! It's not perfect but I'm happy I got to record on a proper instrument. After recording this I had a lesson with my teacher who gave me some great advice on how to move forward with this piece. It's a fun one to play for sure, and I look forward to learning the other Op. 75 pieces as well.

    • maijahildur a beautiful piece - quite unusual, and the ending is so mysterious. You are playing it very well now and it really has a lot of character; there is more energy added to the bucolic colors you had found in earlier versions.

  • Here's where I currently am with the Sonata in B minor K. 87 / L. 33 by Domenico Scarlatti. Given that I have had other pieces to work on this month, I think it's a decent start that encourages me to one day finish the piece and get it performance-ready. It still very "notey" and static and needs a lot more flow and phrasing, but with enough practice, it can get there, I think.

    • Alexander Weymann just gorgeous! You did such a fantastic job of really articulating both melodies in each hand giving each of them a little give and take kind of feel but both still very distinct 🎶😎
