Hand Health: Ergonomic (computer) keyboard Recommendations
I've been having some hand pain recently and during my attempts to figure out and address the cause(s) so I can continue to have a long and healthy life as a pianist, I've realized that I hold a lot of tension in my hands when I'm working on my computer. As a graduate student, I spend a lot of time reading and writing on my laptop (I don't have a desktop), and I'm worried that this might actually be causing significant problems, because although I addressed some technical issues in my last lesson, I still feel these aches and pains in my hands after a few days of rest. It isn't as bad, but it is taking longer to completely dissipate than I feel perhaps it should, and I notice it a lot when I'm working on my laptop.
Although I'll welcome any hand health related suggestions (and I will be monitoring the situation and seeing a specialist to address the issue if turns out to be persistent/recurring), I think that getting an ergonomic keyboard (and mouse) to use with my laptop at least when I'm working at home might go a long way towards preventing injuries and strain on my hands, and I'm wondering if anyone here has recommendations on which ones might be best suited to the task.
