GKO - George Ko at Steinway Hall, Marylebone, London
Some of you will recall that George George gave an inspirational TWI on classical improvisation, which I recall was soon after I joined Tonebase. My fairly recent forays into improvisation - Jazz and Classical - started with George's and Jeremy Siskind's courses on Tonebase.
George gave a thoroughly splendid concert at Steinway Hall in London on Wed 10 April.
George is giving more concerts in the UK. He's at Thornden Hall, at Chandler's Ford tonight (12 April), at Yarm on 17 April, and Hull on 18 April.
He is giving concerts in the States in May starting with Paso Robles (May 3) and West Hollywood (May 4). He's making his Taiwan debut on May 10 in the Xinyi District in Taiwan and then back to Seattle on 17 May.
This is an improvisation called the Moon Goddess, which comes from Korean folk-lore, and is the title of George's latest album.

George George Ko finished his show with his improvisation on the Chaconne from Bach’s Partita in D minor, which, as we known is from the glorious, earth shattering solo violin partita, which, in turn, is part of a whole set of sonatas and partitas written for the instrument.
Sorry it's in two parts. I was suppressing a cough throughout the first part and had to stop recording when I couldn't hold out any longer.
