  • I’m working on Glinka/ Balakiev The Lark. The main section is Andantino, which I take to mean a little faster than Andante, I will practice at moderate tempo of about 80 bpm per quaver, and bring to top at about 90.

  • Here goes...Balakirev's transcription of Glinka's The Lark from Farewell to St Petersburg song collection. Just about memorised it and hope to get it all under my fingers next week. The main challenge is how to maintain consistent unbroken long running lines and keep a clear melody above everything else.

Ching Lee Goh It sounds very beautiful. I didn't know this piece, thank you so much for sharing it; looking forward to listen to it in the concert.

    • Sindre Skarelven Sindre Skarelven Thank you, it’s a lovely piece and wanted to learn it as soon as I heard it, even though I may not iron out all the technical spots in time… I love your Mozart, which is one of his more difficult sonatas. I was given a choice and opted to learn the Rondo in A minor instead.

    • Juan Carlos Olite Yes, I heard it by chance on YT, and could resist jumping onto it!  Btw, wondering if you’ve played the Scarlatti K 427, also a very pretty piece, but which alas I ‘m still struggling with after 1 year…

Ching Lee Goh I haven't played K427, but I'll try to do it (although the list to play in Scarlatti is huge...)

    • Juan Carlos Olite Ching Lee Goh K427 is very pretty for sure. I have also really enjoyed Lucas Debargue’s performance of K438 and highly recommend learning it (with his ornamentations and tempo). You can see it on YouTube. https://youtu.be/TidavfcFWFM.

ALICE 2nd practice with more arm weight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJfgrxC9_G0

this little piece is tricky that left hand needs to be very light, like carpet underneath the melody.

Thanks to Dominic Cheli for his help with the microphone, I now have a more proper arrangement!! It is always a spiritual experience for me, with Chopin. And it is like a prayer. If you notice, at 3 minutes and 13 seconds, a helper comes along with a personal message, just for you. Thanks for listening. xx +
