  • I am working on the A-minor sonata (k310) by Mozart for this challenge. To play this sonata live is a bit scary, but a challenge I'm looking forward to.
I've mostly focused on the second movement this week, because I was playing it in yesterdays concert.

I've made a recording of the first and second movement today. I've not worked enough on the recap of the first movement yet, so that will be a focus. Also, I need to learn the third movement this week!

I will be working on the tempos as Dominic is suggesting. I think it will be particularly important for the the first and third movement to not go too fast!!

Sindre Skarelven I finally found the time to listen all the way through, and - Bravo, Sindre! I especially enjoyed the slow movement. I found it peaceful and relaxing. I am looking forward to hearing you play the entire Sonata.

Here my week one videos of Scarlatti Sonatas k27 and k141. I played them without repetitions, only thinking in a convenient tempo. It is difficult to achieve that clarity such peculiar of the Scarlatti music and, particularly in these sonatas, the dancing sense of rhythm. Fortunately, there are weeks to work hard on it.

    • Juan Carlos Olite Very enjoyable!  K27 is on my list to learn too (working on k9 now). K141 is definitely a challenging one with the repeated notes and speed.

Vidhya Bashyam Andrea Buckland Sindre Skarelven Hazel ALICE Michelle R Ching Lee Goh Natalie Peh Will Green Thank you so much, piano friends! I love playing Scarlatti despite the difficulties. As Natalie once suggested, it would be great some kind of monthly challenge about his Sonatas.

  • Here is an excerpt of my practice at moderate speed (a bit under 50 per half note) of Schubert鈥檚 Impromptu Op 90 No 3.  I might slow everything down more as the next few pages have a lot of details (more left hand trills!) I need to improve on.
