Re: Week 1 - The Opening Pattern and Finding the Melody
Wow, I played the c minor p&f in a student recital way back in August of 2018. How time flies when you are having fun! Looked up the score - it is so covered with pencil marks I can barely see the…

Recording: Sousa 6 hands + Piccolo

OK, a little late for the America 250th celebration, but we do have spirit! We made lots of errors and the tempo was pretty slow, but the important thing is we had fun! In our defense,…

Re: What would you like improved on tonebase?
@Maria That subforum is for announcements of upcoming concerts, not for sharing recordings. The name of the forum is pretty clear I think - not for sharing recordings.

Re: What would you like improved on tonebase?
I think it would be good to have a separate forum section for "Member Recordings", or "Share your Recordings", where members can share their videos of pieces they have been working on.…

Re: Digital Scores Made Simple
@Larry K got the Rock Paper Scissors screen protector today. Works great! No bubbles underneatch like my old one, and the tips for the pencil give it a nice feel.…

Re: Digital Scores Made Simple
@Peter Golemme Hi Peter, since I have both pedal switches set to go forward I can hit anywhere on the stick and turn the page. No problem with double page turns for me.

@Larry K I also worked in IT - retired 12 years now. I just used Claude AI to help write a piano history and tracking app, feeding it 16 years of data I had in an sql database.…

Re: Digital Scores Made Simple
@Larry K It was the "Paperlike" screen protector. According to Amazon that was way back in 2022. Maybe I need to revisit that problem with your suggestion...

Re: Digital Scores Made Simple
@Peter Golemme I have been using the ipad, forscore, and the Apple pencil almost 8 years now, so it has become second nature. I did experiment with a screen cover that added more "tooth" to make it…

Re: Digital Scores Made Simple
@Peter Golemme Peter, I'm a Boomer too, but that does seem overly complicated. I use an ipad, forscore, and an Apple pencil. I just use one of the colored lines and write with the pencil.…

Re: Fresh Starts: September Community Concert
@Larry K Yes, I have that CD and have listened to it many times. So many to choose from - all very difficult. I really think the "Graceful Ghost" may be the most approachable.

Re: Fresh Starts: September Community Concert
@Larry K Don't expect too much! I do the best I can with it. I have used the sostenuto on other pieces, but not this - will have to look into it.

Re: Mastering Tricky Passages and answering your questions (Jarred Dunn feat. Bach!)
More of a generic question about practicing leaps in the LH. The excerpt is from William Schuman's "Chester" - the commissioned piece for the 8th Cliburn competition,…

Re: Mastering Tricky Passages and answering your questions!
Hi Dominic! Can you give some general advice on how to speed up a piece? I am working on Bach's Italian Concerto 1st mvt. Lots of notes - fingering is super important - things go by very fast. Thanks!

Re: Study Group #1: Chopin's Prelude in E minor
The major difficulty for me is the section from measures 16 to 19. And the problem is finding those LH chords without interrupting the "flow" of the melody in the RH.…
