Re: What's the most beautiful place where you've ever played your instrument?
I don't know if this is the most beautiful place, but it was certainly the place with the most gilding! This is one of Liberace's pianos, in Las Vegas.

Re: What kind of Piano do you play?
I have a 6'3" Blüthner, made in (East) Germany in 1986. I think Blüthner is probably the least well-known of the handmade German pianos. I first played one in a piano shop about 10 years ago and…

Re: WEEK THREE Updates: Main Thread - Beethoven smiles in the Coda!
@Monika Tusnady Wow, those 32 notes in the 6th variation! Lovely. Also, I really like the voicing in the B section of the 5th variation--I find that it's challenging to sing the melody,…

Re: WEEK THREE Updates: Main Thread - Beethoven smiles in the Coda!
@Susan Very nice! This variation gave me some memory difficulties personally. It feels "like a romp" to me too, and I think you expressed that very well, it felt very playful!

@CK Bravo! I enjoyed your performance. I agree with the others who said that the tempo feels just right. I also noticed your voicing, for example in the 6th variation when the melody is in the left…

Re: WEEK ONE Updates: Main Thread - What a delightful theme Beethoven wrote!
@Sindre Skarelven Good work! I agree with you on variation 3 and the repeat--it's not balanced without the repeat. (I choose not take repeats just for time's sake.)

Well done! Also, I understand how nerves show up when the camera is running. But in your performance, I can't tell at all.

I've played the piano since I was 7 with varying degrees of seriousness. I'm very interested in improving my skills and broadening my repertoire. When I'm not practicing, I'm a psychotherapist in the Detroit suburbs.
