For this challenge "A Fresh Start" the goal is to pick a BRAND-NEW piece to work on this month.
This is the time to finally open that score that you have been thinking about and get to work!
WHAT ARE WE DOING IN WEEK 3?
1. Let's share how our practice is going by posting a video, or writing some comments about our past week!
2. Practice your piece!

Hi Guys! I'm a week behind since I wasn't home at the beginning of the challenge. Still have to work on memory, dynamics, wrong notes, etc. but I'm starting to get the feel for it.
I need suggestions, please!
Which other Preludes would make a nice set? This is #11, so I'm thinking of starting #12 (Puck) but need at least 1 or 2 more. Maybe some slower ones? I gave up on "La Cathedrale" for the moment (but I'll get back to it sooner or later).

Gail Starr I love your playing of this, Gail! Seems like you have captured the right spirit of this prelude! Also enjoyed the poster you coincidentally put on your piano :)
How about ā¦la fille aux cheveux de lin ?

Gail Starr Sounding greatā¦impressive progress on what I imagine to be a tricky piece.
This prelude could go well followed by Bruyeres and then General Levine (book 2, 5 and 6), I think!

Gail Starr Very nice. Cleanly rendered to my ears. Debussy is someone that I just never could get the right feel for. You know how some composers just fit your hands naturally?

Marc M Thanks a million! Iāll check those out right this minute and pick one (or both). Itās sort of embarrassing that Iām still lagging in my background knowledge of basic repertoireā¦but ask me about ANY chamber music and Iāve probably read through it at least once

Andrea LeVan Aw, thanks! I just really like this piece. I never knew about it until my Tonebase buddies suggested it. Now, all of a sudden, I am REALLY into Debussy, so I picked another one, too.

Here's my Week 3 progress for Scriabin Opus 8 Number 12. I'm comfortable playing and practicing without the score now, and am able to find my way back from memory slips.
I called in a lifeline (lesson with my teacher this weekend) and am curious what magic fairy dust he has to offer this time... I'm *certain* he will want more sound

Judy Kuan Wow, Judy, this is really starting to take shape! I love that middle part with all those transitons, so beautiful. Looking forward to hear where this ends up after your lesson.

Judy Kuan That is sounding excellent. Jealous of the speed you are learning and memorizing this. Great work. I hope to lean this one day. (Nice cat cameo at the end as well)

Judy Kuan sounding great! Awesome you have the whole thing memorized. I look forward to seeing it develop from hereāI imagine building up and controlling volume/momentum becomes the challenge once the notes start to feel secure. Lugansky has a fun live performance of it on YouTubeā¦tons of energy, and wrong notes too, haha. I suspect it was a trade-off for him. (Scary piece, to force trade-offs like that.)

Marc M OMG, that Lugansky performance is actually scary! I'd hate to be in a room with that guy if he were in a bad mood...
