  • Here's one of my own compositions. I've so far called it "The Last dance", thought I've considered other names too. This title gives some of my imagery around this piece, but I don't want to give too much of it away, so the listener can have his/her own take on it. Feel free to comment on what you think of the piece!

    • Sindre Skarelven So beautiful! Very romantic and wistful!  Agree with Harriet on Chopin/Grieg influence. I am going to say a touch of Granados as well (Valses Poeticos). Publish your sheetmusic for sure!

    • Andrea Buckland Vidhya Bashyam Thank you so much, Andrea and Vidhya! I will publish it when the whole set is ready, and it still will take some time. Thanks for the encouragement! :)

Sindre Skarelven Wow, how beautiful, and very evocative. I love the color shifts from minor to major and back again. Congratulations on this accomplishment!

    • Sindre Skarelven  this is beautiful, Sindre! The music is graceful, yet filled with a sense of forlorn and yearning. I also love how your playing is so tender and balanced, with a gentle lilt to to it. I look forward to its publication!

Sindre Skarelven This is lovely, Sindre! When I hear (good) music, I usually "see" it in my mind as a dance or movement of some kind. A beautiful story unfolded in my mind as I closed my eyes and listened to you play your composition. It began with a young woman, perhaps at a ball of some kind, dancing with various partners - then just one partner. She was in the spotlight, and he in the shadows. At times she danced alone, but would return to dance with her shadow partner. Then children came to dance with her. Some she held, some held onto her skirt, some she danced around and over. Then it was again only the dancer. Her dance became bigger, taking more space, very much HER dance. Then she spied something just out of the spotlight - she picked it up. It was a well-loved and old stuffed animal (hers? one of the chidren's?). She danced with it for a bit, as the dance slowed and became smaller again. Then the light slowly faded, and all was dark.

Thank you for sharing your music which allowed me to experience that wonderful story. I love music that can do that for me.

    • Sindre Skarelven I can hear the resonances of Grieg, Chopin and Granados that others have suggested, but really, this piece has a style that's very unique and entirely your own. Disarmingly simple, and yet sophisticated and surprising, telling a tender story. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Sindre Skarelven It's gorgeous, Sindre! I admire not only the beauty of the melodies, but your ability to explore different variations in the development. I don't know but I think in this piece as the magical soundtrack of a romantic movie and the name suits it perfectly well. Your playing is very sensitive. I wish you can publish all the set very soon. Congratulations, Sindre!

Simply gorgeous!  Your evocative phrasing gives it such a heartfelt and charming personality.  Even without your descriptive title, your composition creates a little movie that was playing in my head the whole time.  I want to purchase both sets, learn them and tell all my chamber music buddies about your work.
