Sindre, So good to hear from you! I trust the busy holiday concert season went flawlessly. What great repertoire you have on the go. I wonder if you will treat us to some of your compositions…?

I love everything you are working on.  I am FINALLY starting the Goldbergs today...I got sidetracked by my new chamber music groups!   (And I need to learn the St. Louis Blues for PWJ, also.)

  • Love Bill Evans, but I have very small hands. Does Seascape require reaching 10ths ?

    • Carole Kincaid Yes, there are several 10ths, but I roll most of these. I have medium-sized hands and can usually reach a 10th, but with an added 7th in there it gets highly uncomfortable. Fortunately it sounds good rolling them, so no worries!

  • Weekly update:

I hope to update this diary at least once a week. I've been working on a little bit on everything and it's been okey, but think the sonata/goldberg demands a little more attention if I'm to finish any time soon.

Here is a video I did today of the sonata first movement, and I have some takaways.

    - muscle memory pretty good. I was taken out by a small mistake, so it's not solid enough.

    - should do some analysis and visualization to be more confident and sure of what I'm playing.

    - should work with metronome.

Sindre Skarelven I love this sonata! I was working on it last year, and I listened to Barenboim's recording a lot.

Sindre Skarelven It’s very impressive how you’re playing the whole thing from memory! And, your video also looks really professional, from the angle of the shot to the title screen ✨

    • Tammy Thank you, Tammy! Now I how to just make it more solid and clean up a few parts. The motor is always running in this one :P

    • Qingzhi I love it too! Pretty much love Mozarts writing, and how he just keeps the momentum going in this one. Barenboim is incredible, have not listened to his recording of this, but I will :)

Bravo, Sindre! It sounds good! It is one of my Mozart's favorite sonatas!

    • Juan Carlos Olite Thank you, Juan Carlos! One of my favorites too! Since Mozart has written most of his sonatas in the major key, it becomes really special when he writes this one in the minor. And the way he does it is just marvelous!

  • I want to share one of my own compositions called The Escape. I thought it was fitting with what's happening in Ukraine, and I would like to dedicate it to Ukrainians and others driven from their homes. Piece and love to all ❤️🙏
