CKā€™s Practice Diary

I must thanks to Dominic & tonebase for giving so many different chances for us to participate, to learn and explore. Itā€™s a new experience to me as I donā€™t have the chance to learn music from a proper music conservatory. Whatever it is, I always have lots of passion in music, especially into piano. Though am not talent or gifted enough, but will still hope can achieve what I has been aiming for so long. And hope that the Tonebase will be part of the process for shaping me to be a better piano player.

I must said that am quite an ambitious person since I was very young while learning piano. Lots of repertoires I wish to learn or hoping got the chance to learn whenever I heard from either listening to music radio stations, cassettes or CDs.

So, thereā€™s lots of things I wanted to learn at a time.

Am not a diary person. So, to participate for this ā€œpractice diaryā€ā€¦ā€¦ is something new to me, and I donā€™t know what to write (partly also due to English isnā€™t my strong subject). Will try my best to update on and off, and hopefully it helps and you guys manage to understand.

Am not a very well-organized person. Hence, I donā€™t really have a fixed mind to practice on particular pieces. Unless, itā€™s other reason.

Pieces which I has been learning (new and re-learn):

1. Bachā€™s - toccatas

2. Beethovenā€™s - sonatas: Op.2 no.1 , Op.10. No.8, etc

3. Schubertā€™s Impromptu - No.3 G-flat major

4. Chopinā€™s ballade - no.1

5. Liszt - un-sospiro

6. Scarlatti

7. czerny - op.740

8. others

Okay, at last I manage to learn this little piece -> moment musical Op.94 No.3 in F minor.

Still remembered when I first heard this music from the cassette, instantly, I had fall in love to its tune. Which started with sort of 'marching-like' rhythmic patterns by the left hand, followed by a very surprising effect by the right hand playing the appogiatura notes. I, myself personally enjoyed listening this very much.

    Challenging part for me

I still think that, it's hard to ensure my left hand able to play those notes as quiet as possible. And also for the right hand when it reaching the 'forte' along with the big stretches + the appogiatura followed by the semiquavers.

It's rather late by now, suddenly unable to sleep. Hence, decided to write in this plus submit those recorded videos what I have done.

Past few days, found this score 'serenade'. It has 2 version, 1 with composer Schubert himself, and another is Liszt's version. Generally, the mode of these 2 pieces are quite similar, except that the Liszt's version has omitted the melody which has written in Schubert's score (~i.e bar 60-64) with those dotted quaver followed by the semiquaver rhythmic patterns. Theoretically, it's not hard on such passage. But I did not able to play it well.  Will try to practice on that slowly.

Felt that my timing has been upside down lately. And got myself focusing too much on others and interfere my very own piano practising. šŸ˜„I knew that it's not healthy in a long term period. Will try to be more systematic on myself. Whatever it is, there's always give and take. I do understand of the consequences.

There are actually few of the pieces am going to post here. (yes, all at one shot). After this need to goes back to my pieces.

Enclosed are the videos for the:

    1. Scherzo Op.593 No.1

    2. Serenade (Liszt version)

    3. Impromptu D.899 No.3

    4. Sonata in A minor D.845 - 1st mvt

    2022.06.01

In the past weeks, just been practicing on some pieces. The progress has been rather slow lately. Not too sure why.

Anyhow, I got this video recorded yesterday. It's nothing related classical but purely a piece from new age genre. Feel free to listen.

Has uploaded this just now. I guess still having the post effect from George Ko.

Though it's already 8th of August now, yet the piece was composed in mid July. And, only now I have uploaded it.

Well, it's nothing spectacular work here. But to share with someone out there to listen.

    regards,

    CK

Has been silence for a very long time here.

Anyhow, noticed that this month community challenge is to play any piece by Grieg.  So, have picked to learn this. Do enjoy listening it.
