Recording: Rachmaninov Op. 39, #1 C minor
I recorded this a couple of months ago; Rachmaninov Etude Tableaux Op. 39, #1, in C minor. It's a little rough around the edges, a first draft. Well, maybe a second draft. Let me know what you think.

Outstanding! Very precise and full of energy, particularly in rhythm and dynamics. Ever since I first heard this piece (decades ago, in Ashkenazy’s recording), it’s been a major bucket list item.

I wasn't familiar with this piece. I love how moody and energetic right from the start. The middle section is a nice contrast too. So many varying texture and moods too, which you portrayed very well.
I'll have to add it to my bucket list (if i ever finish Corelli Variations).

This is an extremely impressive performance, Giovanni. I am just now having a chance to hear it for the first time. I find these pieces a little difficult to comprehend, but your performance really surges with Power and makes the components fit together very well.
I, can’t think of any suggestions to make, except if there’s some part of it there that you think needs improving, go for it! And we’ll all look forward to the pleasure of hearing your next “draft“.
also, may I recommend to you to listen to Constance Keene’s recordings of these pieces. Sshe is a pianist, who conveys the sweep and emotional range of Rachmaninov’s music the best of anyone I have ever heard, IMO.
