  • Sorry, can't attend this Watch Party, as we're seeing Purcell's 'The Fairy Queen' tonight (7pm in the UK), which is a Thaxted Festival concert.

    I haven't done as much as intended on this challenge, due to so many other commitments (and unavoidable distractions:

    We have dance tests next Friday so we're trying to practise for around 2 hours each day at the moment;

    We're members of the Thaxted Festival, which is taking place now and we are attending around 20 concerts over a 3-4 week period, which included Mozart's Piano Cpncerto No: 23 at the Opening Night Concert with Iyad Sughayer and the London Mozart Players.  Iyad gave a masterclass on the following day;

    It's the end of the first week of Wimbledon, which is in melt-down due to the non-stop rain, so play is taking place on Centre Court and No. 1 Court as they have roofs; the rest are on and off with huge delays;

    It's been a Tennis-fest for the last few week.  Wimbledon is preceded by Eastbourne, which is preceded by Queens.  Tommy Paul became America's No 1 player after his win at Queens over Carlos Alcaraz (World No 2).  Tommy's 3rd round match has been delayed due to to constant rain.

    I have learned three things from this challenge:

    1. I have a piano repertoire and I need to revise it and keep revising it, as my Schubert waltzes used to be so much better and retrieving the fluidity has been more difficult than expected;

    2. I have become much more aware that I am not playing the correct notes in some chords.  I insert another chord note on occasions.  I think this is due to memorised hand-shapes. It's often quite imperceptible due to the replaced note being a chord note (say the 5th instead of the 3rd);

    3. Don't sign up to challenges and TWIs without checking the calendar for other scheduled events.

    Enjoy the concert!

    Off to a dance practice!
