Had a good sight read of the entire sonata this morning, decided to give the first movement a go this evening. I can't wait to refine it and learn the ins and outs of the work- this is a step above sight reading and it lacks a lot of voicing and some real tempo issues exist.

I'm heading out of town for four days- but my friends have a (suffering....like, really suffering) upright, so I am hoping that I will get some time in on the second mvmt Friday, and maybe the Scherzo and Finale on Saturday!

  Bryan Sable your playing is such a pleasure to lisen to, even when you are just beginning to learn a piece. I'm looking forward to hearing it again when you start to make choices and find both a vision and a steadiness.   Michelle R that is so kind of you to say. I work as a professional accompanist in addition to my full time teaching job (Choir-grades 9&10), so I’m used to cranking out a lot of notes quickly. This isn’t a terribly challenging work, technically- but the mental gymnastics and stamina required to get through the first mvmt alone are NOT lost on me!

  My piece is really short/easy and I'm taking it slowly (I had a finger injury that is mostly healed but kept me away from playing with both hands for a few months), but I'm happy with where I am right now - which is hands separate and working on dedicated fingering. 🙂
