Week 4: Share It

We made it.

Four weeks ago, this challenge began with A New Hope. You chose a piece, took the first steps, kept the momentum going, and stayed with it through the ups and downs.

Now it’s time for the final step:

Share it.

This week is all about recording and posting your piece. It does not need to be perfect. In fact, that was never the goal.

Maybe your piece isn’t exactly where you imagined it would be. Maybe there are still rough edges. Maybe there are passages you still wish you had another week with.

That’s okay.

The point of Unfinished Business was never perfection. It was showing up, sticking with it, and bringing something across the finish line.

So this week, post your recording! Whether it’s:

  • your full piece
  • an excerpt
  • one section you’re proud of
  • or your best take so far

Share it.

And then… get ready.

On June 6th, we’ll celebrate together during our Unfinished Business Watch Party, where we’ll enjoy and celebrate recordings from the community and look back on the journey we took together.

You’ve already done the hard part.

Now let us hear it.

You have until June 5th to share a recording with us, to be included on the concert!

I just tried to play real fast to roll back time. Didn't work.

Maybe you should play real fast backwards...that might work!

I’m completely behind in everything piano. The last two weeks have been more than just busy. So, I probably will have nothing to share, but I had a great and interesting time working on my piece at the beginning of the challenge anyway. And all the time — with you friends, following your marvelous progress! Cheers!

    Hi all

here is my rendition of movements 3 and 4 of Handel’s keyboard suite in F

movement 3, the adagio , I just played the ornaments as in my score , many performers often play additional ones

a couple of slips here and there,  but overall I’m happy with it especially as it’s all memorised , big achievement for me

    Handel keyboard suite in F

    Movements III and IV

    III.    Adagio

    IV.    Allegro. (Fugue)

Where’s everyone?? How come so few people have posted for Week 4?! Did everyone get caught up with life and other priorities? I certainly did!

I started off with the Chopin Barcarolle for this challenge but had to put it on hold as I had to travel for work and then when I returned, I had to focus on another other prior commitments. Just to be able to share something, here’s what I had to divert my attention to (because I don't have any updates on the Barcarolle). This one of the one of the GOAT pieces in the repertoire. 🐐It's a practice video from 2 days ago.  I will be continuing on this with the Barcarolle in parallel, I hope to clean both up by August.

I sadly haven't had time to work on my unfinished business. I have been busy preparing for a recital but hopefully I can practice and practice and then submit a video at the last minute.

Hi Tammy - I've noticed the same thing and assumed everyone is just trying to get their final recording put together since many of us chose big challenges!

I've been around less as I have continued to be unwell and quite exhausted this past week. I am hoping to try and record today, though I don't really expect to get anything to my satisfaction until later in the week.

Thank you for sharing your clip of Rach. 2 =) It is definitely a landmark concerto. Are you focusing on this piece because you are performing it for an event?

Gorgeous playing, Tammy! Certainly one of the biggest goats out there, always love to hear it, and you play it with so much confidence and style.

PS: My recording will be posted on deadline day ;)

Thank you - it's lasted awhile because it is not specifically an illness. I have good and bad periods of wellness as a result of an ongoing injury recovery. I am currently weathering a bad period. They can last for several weeks during which my energy level is unfortunately almost non-existent throughout most of the day.

I have been recovering from a badly strained trapezius that occured last year, thought to be caused from a period of severe bronchitis. Things have been gradually improving with physio but it has been a slow process with periodic setbacks. My neck has needed a lot of attention due to headaches and periodic ear-ringing (neck issues have caused some eustachian tube issues). I do have some periods where I feel almost normal but then it swings the other way for awhile, during which I am very sore and it is difficult to rest (and lack of rest then makes things even worse).
