  • Here is my week 3 recording of Der Doppelgänger (Schubert/Liszt). As in week 2, I added the translation of Heinrich Heine’s poem- just select cc (close caption).  I loved the dynamic variations from ppp to fff and some of the sentiments written in the score I have never seen before such as “angoscio” (with anguish) and “flebile” (mournful).

    • Vidhya Bashyam thank you so much for this piece which is new to me.  You played convincingly as I felt the depth of its mournfulness even if you had not explained the meaning of flebile. Brava!

I'm running out of time to piece the whole Rigoletto together...so I'd like to send in instead Schubert- Liszt Widmung which was my first encounter with his amazing world of  transcriptions.

    • Ching Lee Goh So beautiful and masterfully played! I have always loved this from beginning to end (what a nice touch to add Ave Maria at the end!). Another amazing piece that Liszt picked to transcribe. Tonebase needs to do a transcription challenge sometime 😊

    • Ching Lee Goh You played this so well too! Another virtuosic piece that looks easy in your hands! I can’t believe Schubert wrote the original at such a young age.  I hope they have a masterclass on it someday.

Ching Lee Goh Great playing! My favorite Schubert-Liszt transcription. I join Vidhya's wish of having a lesson on it in Tonebase.

    • Juan Carlos Olite Thank you, and thank you also for your lovely Consolation. That was a familiar tune that I didn’t know belonged to Liszt! Always so much more to learn.  Yes, Dominic says transcription challenge is on!

    • Emre Köseoğlu Wow! I love this transcription. You bring out the melody so beautifully! Thanks for sharing. There is a Schubert two week intensive happening now on tonebase. You should share it there too.
