These events are NOT live-streamed OR recorded, but are private zoom meetings where tonebase members can share their hard work and perform for each other!

These concerts can be played LIVE, or if you can't attend, you can submit a recording!

This is a GENEROUS and SUPPORTIVE space.

Performing is one of the best ways to push yourself, and really evaluate the work/progress you have made!

Repertoire is open to any piece!

Memorization is NOT required.

You can play select movements, or even sections of pieces! No need to perform a complete work!

Playing the piano is fun, but sharing your music with others is one of life's great joys. Join in on the fun and cheer each other on!

  This Scherzo was the last serious piece I played as a very young adult more than a lifetime ago. I spent a Winter learning it on my own (no teacher) in order to play it at a local music festival in the Spring.
  
  The adjudicator was an elderly gentleman whose last name happened to be Pounder. I assure you though he was a top notch pianist and I may have been the real Pounder that day. He was very kind though and constructive in his assessment and comments to me which I still to this day remember exactly a portion of the comments. His first comment was that I should familiarize myself with a device called a Metronome and perhaps use it (referring to the opening page and those pesky rests).
  
  Somehow, I managed to rise to the top and fulfill my destiny by receiving a pretty high score, winning the 1st place prize and a small scholarship to boot. (Full disclosure - I also was the only competitor in the class ;-). But at least I didn't come in third place or worse ! 😳 🤐 🤣 ). And in my defence, this was also long before the "everyone gets a ribbon or prize" philosophy of these days.
  
  I've essentially not touched this piece since then. I will certainly be starting from scratch today and wonder today if it is even possible? I think more than ever I need to know? In a few years maybe I will possibly try to resurrect it on my forthcoming worldwide comeback tour on a future ToneBase Community Concert. Ha Ha Ha. (Poof - dreaming time just ended...)
  
  Sindre, thanks for reminding me about this and allowing me to reminisce a little. I am looking forward to this as I do with everything you are conquering like the Ballades, Scherzos, Nocturnes of Chopin and other big works. It is very inspirational! Thank you.

  Actually, there may have been other competitors? I just don't remember anything else. It was no different back then. I was so nervous and don't remember very much of details of my playing other than I somehow made it through beginning to end.

So here is my VERY late submission for the Unfinished Business challenge😅. I did as much stabilization as I could, but the original footage was more shaky than the Patterson-Gimlin footage, so there is only so much I can do to fix it. The sound is good enough. I have set the publication to be on the concert date. Now I do hope will accept to include it in the concert, but I'm ok either way!

  I have actually recorded the whole sonata, almost a year ago! It's on my YouTube channel (link in my profile here). It was recorded in a studio, on a magnificent Mason & Hamlin BB, but I prefer my Baldwin, and with my current playing technique which I find to be lighter and "bouncier" than last year's, hence the "unfinished business". Now I do need to record the 1st and GOAT 2nd movements on the Baldwin, so the business remains unfinished as of now 😁.

  Yes mine is a vintage model from 1916. It was awarded byM&H to the winner of a concerto competition at New England Conservatory. It stayed in her family for 3 generations until I bought it in 2018. So much power and depth!

Since Thurmond and I were unable to put our collaboration together in time for Saturday, and I was unable to "finish" this piece during the "unfinished business" challenge month due to travel, I'd like to submit my recording of Bach's Little Prelude in C minor bwv 999. It's already posted on the Bach page, but it's something I have spent a lot of time on, and I'd appreciate the opportunity to share it with everyone.

I just returned from Europe to Hawaii 4 days ago so I'm pretty jet-lagged and haven't had access to a piano in 2 weeks but I do think I'll try playing tomorrow. I'm not quite sure what. I don't want to play the same thing as I did last time but I'll come up with something!

  I had meant to ask you if you fared ok with the earthquake a couple of months ago? Our cousin, who is on the Big Island (he lives near Captain Cook - he's the tuba player for the Kamuela Philharmonic) had serious damage to his home while one of my clients who is on Maui said she felt it but had no damage. I hope all was ok for you.
